Rote8 ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App").

We collect information that you provide directly to us:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and authentication credentials.
- Shoe Data: Information about your running shoes that you add to the app, including brand, model, mileage, and retirement status.
- Activity Data: Running activity data synced from third-party services like Strava, including distance, date, and gear assignments.
- Device Information: We collect device tokens for push notification delivery.
2. Third-Party Services
Rote8 integrates with third-party services to provide its functionality:
- Strava: If you choose to connect your Strava account, we access your activity data and gear information through the Strava API. We store OAuth tokens securely to maintain this connection. You can disconnect Strava at any time through the app settings.
- Firebase (Google): We use Firebase for authentication, database storage, cloud functions, and push notifications. Data is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App's features
- Track and display your shoe mileage and rotation data
- Sync your running activities and gear assignments with Strava
- Send push notifications about new activities and shoe retirement alerts
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Cloud Firestore with appropriate security rules that ensure users can only access their own data. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and OAuth tokens are stored securely.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties. We may share data only in the following circumstances:
- With Strava, when you explicitly choose to sync gear assignments back to your Strava account
- With service providers (Firebase/Google Cloud) who process data on our behalf
- When required by law or to protect our rights
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data stored in the App
- Update or correct your information through the App settings
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Disconnect third-party services (e.g., Strava) at any time
- Opt out of push notifications through your device settings
7. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we discover that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
